Deck Building 101: Daily Tournaments – Type 1
June 8, 2008
Today I’m going to provide you the basic information about Daily Tournaments and analysis of some of the most popular decks used for Type 1.
Daily is an understatement since they actually have 12 of Daily Tournaments every day. That’s right, every 2 hours another one starts. The tournament is simple. You go into a tournament room, and you have to win as many fights as you can in an hour. Every fight you win will give you some points. The higher your points, the higher your rank will be.
Just participating in a tournament will give you 50 clintz. You don’t even have to win a match, just play one. If you finish in the top 1/3 of the tourney, you’ll also get a free credit too. It’s not as hard as it sounds. Most people just play 1 match for the 50 clintz so it’s easy to get to the top 1/3. Lastly if you placed 150th or above in the tournament you get more clintz, to know more about how prizes are distributed visit Urban Rivals official rules about Daily Tournaments.
Now that you know what a Daily Tournament is then let’s talk about decks. Today I’ll be talking about three decks that would give you a slight advantage when playing in a Daily Tournament. The first two decks are classics which once in Urban Rival’s history have dominated the tournament scene so bad that most of their cards has been banned in ELO while the last deck is from a new clan that has been dominant for the last six months before being hit by the ban hammer. Also another common thing is that all of this deck has attack-modifying bonus, which can really help in random.

A classic deck the part Sakrohm offers excellent damage reducers with Graksmxxt, Na Boh, and Uranus. While the Uppers provides you with nukes and walls.
You have two SOA in Jackie and Rubie and two SOB in Samantha and Petra. You also have the best wall in the game Zatman and on of the best bluff card in Graksmxxt.
Some possible changes for the Uppers cards are Frankie Hi for Rubie for a mini-version of Zatman or you can use a three-star Dorian for another 8 power guy on the team instead; and Mickey T for Samantha for special situation like your opponent didn’t use any pills on a cards because they are underestimating Mickey T will sure provide you with a good amount of battle points. On the other hand for the Sakrohm, Trinmkkt may provide you more defense and damage but it is not advisable to use her instead of Petra.
The classic two hit combo of Jackie and Zatman is present. Graksmxxt and Uranus offer lot of possibility from damage reductions to surprise attackers. This deck is well balanced combining excellent defense and offense. Its only weakness is you have four cards, which has a low power of 5:Na Boh, Uranus, Rubie and Samantha. Overall if you prefer stalling and counterattacking then this a good deck for you.
Montana – Uppers
Another classic this deck lacks damage reducers compare to the Sakrohm – Uppers but offset it with sheer attack reduction, great walls and high damage.
If you have a Lyse Teria Cr then this deck has three SOA with Jackie and Rubie included and two SOB in Samantha and Vickie. Mona and Prince Jr who can reduce their opponent’s power are almost on the same league as Zatman as walls.
For possible changes on the Uppers cards are the same with the Sakrohm – Uppers deck. While for the Montana if you don’t have Lyse Teria Cr use Ottavia instead. While for those who don’t have Vickie may consider adding both Edd and Rosa other than that there isn’t much option for Montana right now.

Again the deck isn’t defensive you really have to use some pills here but unlike the first deck you have more options for two hit KO. Mono-Rescue

The easiest deck to build and use, some say you could just put any Rescue cards in it and you still have a decent deck. Unlike the first two Sure Shot is not as common unless your opponent will send a card without any pillz, but this deck sure prevents your opponent from achieving Sure Shot.
The only thing that you should remember here is all cards must be Rescue. Combining them with other clans would reduce the efficiency of their bonus and for some their abilities. Staples would include Alec for his high damage and power, Lea for SOB and Elvira for SOA.
Hope you find this arcticle helpful, on the next article I would discuss about Type 2 decks.
